Aurora-Beatrice: Redemption

The following takes place the evening of Saturday, Nov. 22, at Memorial Stadium: 5:49 p.m.: A handful of fans have already staked out their seats for the Class B state championship game. Seventy-five minutes remains on the clock before Aurora and Beatrice play to see which earns its first football state championship. Even with Aurora's upset of McCook, it seems that a majority of "expert" and message board picks go toward the Orangemen. But after seeing the way Aurora played last week --… Continue

Blue Hill Muscles It's Way To C-2 Title

Blue Hill won the Class C-2 State Championship game the old fashioned way. The Bobcats used a grind-it-out offense and a clever defensive scheme designed to smother every pass reciever that Archbishop Bergan sent out to catch a pass. BH Head Coach Porter said prior to the game that the plan was to put almost no pressure on QB Riley Gross and if he completed a pass they would have almost everybody dropped back in pass coverage and snuff out the receiver immediately after a catch...........worked… Continue

The Junior RB also clinched the State Rushing crown by running for an incredible 2,478 yards in 13 games in '08. The Bobcats scored on their first 4 drives and were never threatened after that, jumping to a 26-0 lead, and stretching it to 40-7 at the half. Belina scored on runs… Continue

Ewing Jumps on St. Francis Early To Snare D-2 Crown - 49-24

Humphrey St. francis must have thought Brett Kaczor was in more than one place at a time in the Class D-2 State Football Championship this morning. The game, played in very chilly temperatures and a stiff North breeze that blew the ball down the field on several occassions, was a showcase for the Ewing Senior Quarterback/Linebacker. Kaczor, a sure bet for All-State, ran for 117 yards on 20 carries, was 10 of 11 passing for 160 yards, and blew up several St.Frans running plays by getting 10 solo… Continue
